The audacity of identifying a problem - continued raiding of medicare funds for non-medicare programs by politicians over the course of decades - and implementing a solution - healthcare "reform", or Obamacare - which also raids Medicare of $500 billion is stupendous. To then double count several items in a Madoff-like proposal to deceive us into thinking taxes won't be jacked up and our government become hopelessly insolvent is a credibility killer.
We're now or soon will be in the business of bankrupting an entire economic sector - healthcare insurance which is only the 36th most profitable industry making only $12 billion one year. We will be denying healthcare claims like european states. We will not have sufficient revenue from premiums with or without the individual mandate so we will see increased premiums, lower quality service, and further insolvency of medicare. We should never have taken one step in this direction. I will encourage repeal of hr3590 in the federal house and oppose all MN house efforts to implement parallel policy by lawmakers such as my 65B opponent, Carlos Mariani who signed a pledge to implement policy in MN parallel to any federal healthcare legislation that is passed. Carlos Mariani signed a pledge to implement policy in MN parallel to federal hr3590.
This will bankrupt MN's 3 big non profit insurers eventually through premium rates being set by government.
Carlos Mariani: answer Minnesotan people for your support of this administration.
My campaign for your seat is dedicated to making you answer to Minnesota for your support of what happened today and your support of each and every action of this administration.

As a resident in the district, I generally agree with the aim and intent of this post. What I'm more interested in is what sort of health bill (if any) would you deem appropriate?
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem HR3590 created was how do we pay for the deceptively presented 2014 benefits. That is a question only Democrats can and should answer. Republican Paul Ryan of WI and others with responsible healthcare plans were locked out of the process completely but now when the bill comes due Democrats welcome input.
ReplyDeleteMN Governor Pawlenty now has to deal with Medicaid changes and how to pay for the mother of all unfunded mandates. Our state budget deficit went up yesterday thanks to the Democrat House and Obama. For that there is no solution except budget cuts, since there are federal requirements.
ReplyDeleteAgain I agree with the lack of funding argument. I still want to know what YOU would do differently.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of funding is being dealt with by Pawlenty. We will resist the federal intrusion and unfunded mandate in regard to Medicaid.
ReplyDeleteI will support every effort in the House to resist the federal intrusion.
There is a long proud tradition in MN of upholding conservative principles.
We are witnessing it in the Senate and in the House and it is refreshingly strong. If you elect me I will be blessed with effective Republican colleagues, which will benefit 65B and small business in MN. Are you aware of the many anti-small business ideas such as Baak's internet tax and anti-small business provisions in the federal healthcare bill which Mariani promises to duplicate? These will be among the no votes I will cast.
So am I to take it that you would simply roll back all the Democratic changes thusfar and would do nothing else to address the medical, economic, and entitlement issues facing this country? I've asked you what YOU would do twice now. Am I to understand you are OK with things the way they were, with a Medicaid/Medicare system destined for bankruptcy, social security on a similar track, and lingering economic stagnation?
ReplyDeleteI'm really at a loss. I don't think my question was unclear. i'm basically giving you a blank 'what are your policies' question and you're giving me a 'here's what I'm not for' answer. I want to know what policies you would fight for if you were elected.
Hello Joseph,
ReplyDeleteWe are rolling back HR3590.
I am helping to bring conservatives together in Photo ID (www.StPaulPHOTOID.com) and in legislative issues at grassroot levels.
We are guided by principle:
http://www.mnlg.org/2008/05/platform_29.html
The actions suggested in my 2009 article will reduce premiums for Americans.
http://deltondigest.blogspot.com/2009/08/healthcare.html
Mariani's intended bills for MN based on Pelosi's and Reid's federal bills will increase premiums.
All experts say that about the federal bills and Mariani has stated his bill will be based on the federal bill.
Search the internet on each bullet point and you will find each bullet point I recognized in 2009 is held by many major republicans today. All of the ideas I recognized will reduce premiums.
Social Security, promised to your generation and mine, simply isn't there.
What are you going to do about it?
Elect another Democrat who votes 100% for every tax and budget increase in a vain attempt to avoid the compounding interest you're paying on your own money?
Not me.
The first step is to stop the spending.
Mariani believes lingering economic stagnation is fixed by creating jobs on borrowed money, despite our bankruptcy. Is that what you believe?
I don't. I believe that in 65B we can fill commercial vacancies with private sector job-creating businesses if we reject Democrat "institutional strengthening" policy, which is government expansion. I will lead the state legislature in accomplishing this for our community and all communities in MN.
Too often business is discouraged in St. Paul either by regulation or taxes.
Yes it is a general pro-small-business notion, but the Republican principles are very specific and clear.
I will vote responsibly and not increase spending.
Please vote for me.
It is the right thing to do for yourself and your community.
Regards,
Jamie
Heh. Given my other options you never needed to convine me to vote for you. I'll be voting for you for sure. What I do want is to get you ready for the questions coming your way. Saint Paul will be a rough territory. It's one of the most liberal places in MN and MN isn't exactly a 50/50 state to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have given me some idea of where you stand on the issues. The Photo ID issue is of particular consequence, since if liberals win on that one millions of illegal aliens will all of a sudden become a voting block.
Social security is an interesting one. When the program was enacted only 4% of people ended up receiving benefits. Now that number is substantially higher. Obviously this Ponzi scheme (and it IS a Ponzi scheme) needs to be radically altered if it is to continue.
I would also prefer business, rather than government, to be the controlling sector when it comes to the means of production. Benjamin Franklin, when asked what sort of country America was, once said "A Republic, if you can keep it." We are quickly approaching the time when government controls over half of our GDP. Scary times for a Republic.
Best of luck with the election.
Great quotes. It is so critical we get out and spread the word, Joseph.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your support.
I am proud of my supporters, because they are usually smarter than me!
Best Regards,
Jamie
